Art for Life - Tuesday February 10, 2009 // Halo Lounge
Yvonne Cardoba, who was a featured artist in REVMiami.com's Launch Party, that she was having a showing at Halo Lounge (1625 Michigan Ave), as part of Art For Life, that also featured Denise Diaz (a soon to be contributor for REVMiami), Stefany Duenas, Henry Perez, Ethan Klein, Merredith Paul, and Bryan Leister.
Afrobeta Tuesday Nights at Jazid - Tuesday, February 10, 2009
After the exhibition at Halo Lounge, I went over to Jazid to see Afrobeta at their weekly party on Tuesday nights. Unfortunately, Cuci Amador wasn't able to make it but Tony Smurfio was still able to form a jam session with friends.
Miami Downtown Development Authority's DWNTWN Concert Series featuring Afrobeta and Chana - Friday, February 13, 2009
By Friday Cuci was feeling better and they were able to play the Miami DDA's second offering of their DWNTWN Concert Series. Cuci has such tremendous stage presence, and Afrobeta's music is so infectious. I really think they can make it big, someone really needs to get them on a Major Label.

REVMiami.com Presents: Valentine Massacre! - Saturday, February 14, 2009 // Black Sheep Bar
REVMiami's second party - Valentine Massacre! I have to say, out of all the forms of music that I like, Metal ranks way up there. Lately I've been listening to a ton of Walls of Jericho, Norma Jean, and Slayer - so I was really happy to put on a metal show for the site.
Hatchetface blew me away. I am a really big fan of metal, and these guys had that murky, sloshy, and high technical feel like Mastodon. I'm going to do a feature on them soon.
I have to give a special thanks to Storm Wielder and Dark Solace for coming out last minute. They were young kids who were super enthusiastic to just play a show. Thanks again.
