The new site is up!

There is always a bit of trepidation after a major redesign. How will it affect traffic? Will people like it? Is it pleasing to read?

Here's some benefits to the new style, in my opinion.

As opposed to the vertical direction of a typical blog - and the limitation of one post occupying a good deal of space on the front page, now there are 30 posts on the front page!

With so many contributors I felt it would be really detrimental for the site not to be able to show as many posts as possible in one eye shot. The old design showed only 5 posts, but to see them you had to scroll through the page - which made me feel as if most people probably didn't get the full view of the content up on the site (we're almost up to 100 posts).

Also, the top navigation bar is organized differently. This was an issue for a very long time. I never could figure out how to properly organize the site. Bands, interviews, shows, people, etc. I just couldn't get the categories set right. But while designing the site it hit me: Music, Art, Events, & Counter-Culture (and also a section for REVMiami specific posts). I think it is a much more efficient way of organizing the posts.

I also added a new section for "Friends of REVMiami", which is where all the links are. Hopefully people still go there to look up the other things going on around Miami.

So here is the new site and REVMiami continues it's growth. Expect there to be a lot more content, more contributors, more shows, and a whole lot of changes, growth, and CONTESTS!
