culturaback1The Queen of the Scene and DJ Oski have teamed up to throw the 2nd Annual Cultura Festival this Friday May 29th at Tobacco Road. Their collaborative efforts  promise to feature  some of South Florida's most diverse musical acts on three different stage locations at the historic cabaret. The festivities will begin at 6pm with DJ sets and happy hour, after which fourteen bands will play on until 3am.

The boys in The Int'l Language and I are excited to be part of the lineup, we'll be starting off the patio stage showcase at 10pm. Other featured acts on the patio are: The New Architects, Prima, and Don V. A.

The caberet stage will include: Impertinencia, Marc Solomon, 3nigma, Marquetta, Kristin Night, and Rimidi. There will also be a parking lot stage with The Miami Mix, Hyllus, Mixed Culture, Radio Clip and Centro Polo.

I was able to talk with the Queen of the Scene via email about the festival:

Steve: Its a pleasure to be part of the Cultura Festival I wanted to ask you a little about it. What is the inspiration behind the theme of the festival?

Queen: We did it last year, wanting to encompass different genre's and different cultural influences from all around the globe. Music is the Universal Language.

S: Can you tell us some highlights of the event that you are looking forward to?

Q: The Bands, of course. Thats why I do what I do.

S: Will there be other activities besides musical performances?

Q: We'll have artists and vendors selling their unique handmade items, plus the 96 cent drinks for happy hour from 6pm-7:36pm (96 minutes)- celebrating Tobacco Road's 96 years of business! Miami's oldest bar & first liquor liscence!

S: Are there any other comments you would like to make about the festival?

Q: Come out! and say hi to me. buy me a 96 cent drink! lol

S: Alright cool, thanks.
