Rooster Gets His Day In Court

Local South Beach icon, animal rights activist , and rooster about town, the famous Mr Clucky will be going in to City Hall Thursday to appeal the ruling that farm animals, including roosters, cannot be kept within city limits. A little over a month ago, the local celebrity was given notice to leave the city he has called home for over 2 years.

Mr. Clucky is a pet not a farm animal! Also, he is one of the unique and quirky characters that inhabit Miami Beach and add to it's charm. Last year, this rooster was the Grand Marshall of Coconut Grove's King Mango Strut Parade. To quote Clucky supporters on his website, the rooster is a "cultural icon" and a "tourist attraction".

In an effort to raise awareness, drum up support, and hopefully inspire city officials to keep one of our most famously quirky residents on Miami Beach, there will be a candlelight vigil/drum circle held for Mr Clucky outside of Miami Beach City Hall this Wednesday night (July 29). Bring your candles, bongos, protest signs, and your best vegan friend.

You only say you like Mr. Clucky cause he isn't waking your ass up at 5am everyday with the annoying crows. Live with him for a week and lets see how quickly your opinion changes. Forget the well kept look or how cute he is and think about the residents that have to deal with people who think keeping farm animals in the city is a good idea. Ive seen that rooster before and yes its cool looking but i also have to deal with dozens of other unkept roosters that roam the city streets of Miami because of owners who fail to keep it tended like Clucky. Sorry but if one has to go they all have to go. The only reason that chicken gets attention is cause that guy riding the bicycle cant get any human friends and he figures this is an easier way to get attention. Ride around Lincoln Road with a giant chicken and people will notice you.
