Big City Breakdown (BCB) is a bi-weekly video feature where local musicians are taken out of their typical performance element and placed at one of Miami’s outdoor hotspots as they present a song. The presentation will be shot in a single running take with no editing magic. BCB is an opportunity to showcase Miami’s best talent, highlighting their versatility without electricity, four walls, and other amenities of the bar and club scene.

The Future Classic Festival could very well be Miami’s most stellar event of the year, considering the concentration of local talent under one roof.  The lineup features some our favorite BCB alumni, but for this special edition we are ecstatic to present Bachaco as our  Future Classic showcase.

Bachaco and I had been talking back and forth for some time in attempts to coordinate their participation in the BCB. At last the forces that be brought us together downtown just in time to preempt the Future Classic Festival. Although 3/5 of the band couldn’t make it to the shoot, Ed and Matthew rocked our socks off with their raw energy and catchy hooks.

We set up overlooking the skyscrapers near Bayside and Bachaco performed a deep song entitled "La Muerte". Ed belted out as he danced around waving his arms, then he pauses to suddenly beat on a cajon. Alongside Ed is Matthew, strumming his reggae styling, backing up Ed now and then, but always wearing a huge smile. I swear he never stops smiling.  Our crew watched on heads bopping, feat tapping and I thought to myself, I can’t wait to see the full outfit come together this Saturday.

Be sure to see Bachaco perform this Saturday, September 12 at Soho Studios for the Future Classic Festival.
