Dyslexic Postcards sign to District Records
One of the first local Miami shows I ever covered was headlined by local debaucherous legends Dyslexic Postcards.
Over the course of the years, I've been involved in the band as either their manager or friend, particularly with lead singer and songwriter Joshua Xmas. Dyslexic Postcards played REVMiami's Launch Party and Josh was also one of the first interviewees on REVMiami.
Unfortunately, earlier this year Josh's brother, and guitarist of DP, Atom Xmas passed away. I can't even describe how hard it was for Josh but I was incredibly proud that he was still able to hold things together and continued playing shows with a new lineup of close friends.
Of all the local bands that I've heard in Miami, DP always spoke straight to my rock n' roll soul with stunningly heavy riffs and a soul born from the fires that forged Motley Crue, Pavement, Jane's Addiction, and the entire Indie Music sound of the late 80's, early 90's.
I've always had faith that DP would eventually get signed to a record label and that day has finally come. I've been talking to Josh every couple of days while he's been in Las Vegas recording DP's first full length album, and he's telling me it's nothing short of "epic."
Hopefully there'll be a lot more information coming soon, but mainly I want to congratulate my friends -- I always knew it would happen.
