Danny's Photojournal: Neck Face's "Devil's Disciple" 10/31/09
I had been seeing the promotional materials around town for Neck Face's Devil's Disciple at the O.H.W.O.W. gallery on NW 32nd and NW 7th Ave. and the stuff freaked me out. Although Neck Face has never identified himself publicly he is known worldwide for his graffiti, eerie artwork, and skateboard graphics. His skateboard background was on display in various forms, as there was a miniramp constructed just for the event for a demo with riders from Baker and Deathwish. Our friend Danny Fernandez was brave enough to enter the haunted event and capture some images included here.
- A very threatening entrance to the artist’s creepy haunted house that leads into the main gallery room.
- A huge mound of dirt piled up in a corner of the art gallery along with red-lit Neck Face masks in black, opened coffins.
- Art enthusiasts in the main room of the gallery.
- Neck Face’s signature comical drawings with a new addition of humanized cigarettes hung on the walls of the O.H.W.O.W.
- An edgy piece by the twisted Halloween artist.
- Neck Face’s most popular attraction is the gory, human-like dummy that is set behind an enclosed window of the gallery which overlooks 7th ave. The dummy’s hair was made from Neck Face’s own hair that has been collected over the years.
