Big City Breakdown 10: The Morning Flesh Project- "The Oubliette"

Big City Breakdown (BCB) is video feature where local musicians are taken out of their typical performance element and placed at one of Miami's signature outdoor locations as they present a song. The presentation will be shot in a single running take with no editing magic. BCB is an opportunity to showcase Miamis best talent, highlighting their versatility without electricity, four walls, and other amenities of the bar and club scene.

When planning the shoot with The Morning Flesh Project we brainstormed over a few places and decide on Haulover Beach. I felt that this was the most appropriate location relating to the band being that it is a nude beach. None of us had ever actually been on the beach before and Morning Flesh drummer Johnathan and I were disenchanted to find a 95% ratio of males on the beach, a sight to which we quickly turned back to set up for the shoot.

The park area of the Haulover Beach is equipped with a handful of colorful, concrete shower and bathroom structures that provide a visual appeal as well as incredible acoustics. The Morning Flesh Project performed in full formation including: Erik, Danny, Monty, Johnathan, and Chris. We are pleased to feature the band performing "The Oubliette" showcasing their unique instrumental dynamics which is a first for the BCB.

In talking with Danny I learned that the band is working on recording an e.p. at the Shack North in Hialeah, so keep an ear out for that and make sure to catch them live by following their show dates on the web!
