Big City Breakdown 11: Dreaming In Stereo - "Smile"

Big City Breakdown (BCB) is video feature where local musicians are taken out of their typical performance element and placed at one of Miami's signature outdoor locations as they present a song. The presentation will be shot in a single running take with no editing magic. BCB is an opportunity to showcase Miami's best talent, highlighting their versatility without electricity, four walls, and other amenities of the bar and club scene.
We are proud to present Dreaming In Stereo as the BCB’s 11th special guest and our first of 2010. This project has presented us with surprises from the beginning, whether it’s environmental factors, audiences gathering, or getting kicked out of a location, this episode is no different. On the day we met Dreaming In Stereo we were confronted with 30 mile an hour wind gusts, which forced us to seek shelter. In between takes, Perdomo jokingly played the Scorpions classic, Rock you like a Hurricane to lighten the mood of the situation. Luckily the members of the band were patient and professional to work with and we had a successful shoot.
Dreaming In Stereo came as 5 members: Fernando Perdomo on vocals and guitar, Marisol Garcia on melodica and vocal, Allison Irvine on violin, Dave Torre on viola, and Eddie Zyne on percussion. They performed "Smile", a breathtaking ballad from the self titled album. The band’s cohesion is tried and true in this live version. Their dynamics set the somber mood and explode at the song’s crescendo. Perdomo’s gentle pleas become overt heartfelt demands at the close, enough to make you teary eyed.
