Our 1 Year Anniversary Celebration!

REVMiami's 1 Year Anniversary Celebration will be held Friday, February 19th, at White Room in DWNTWN Miami (1306 N Miami Ave)
It's on like Donkey Kong! I can't explain how excited I am to be able to have our 1 Year Anniversary Celebration center around the bands from Big City Breakdown (and with special guests JESP and Astari Nite). I always have wanted REVMiami to be a platform for artists and musicians to share their work, and the best example of that is through the various shows, events, and concerts we've done over the past year. To me there is nothing more inspiring than seeing bands perform the art they worked so hard to develop.
Also, following with typical REVMiami tradition this show is diverse and has some of the most talented musicians in the city. I can't ever gush about ArtOfficial enough. It's one thing to be a live hip-hop band, it's a total other thing when the band is as good as any Jazz band in the city, plus Emcee's Logics and Newsense write meaningful lyrics that aren't focused on bragging about their opulence or desires for a "player" lifestyle.
JESP was one of the first musicians I contacted for the show after seeing his Rising Sun video on Ray Milian's blog Off The Radar (by the way, I can't say this enough, but any true lover of underground music has to read his blog. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable but he's also a pretty darn good writer - a combination that doesn't usually occur. He's also one of the best Underground Indie DJs in Miami; talk about a triple threat.) JESP is electronic, danceable, entertaining, etc., I really like what he is creating and to be able to include him in the show is great.
Beyond them, the rest of the bands playing represent a small slice of the huge diversity of the music that actually happens in this city. Honestly, people really don't know how good they have it. I remember living in Tallahassee and having a live music choice between Punk and Metal at Milkbar (now Beta Bar) or mainstream rock bands that played at places like Big Daddy's. And that was it.
Let me lay it out like this:
- Dyslexic Postcards - 90's-ish Indie/Alt Rock
- Tristan Clopet & The Juice - Red Hot Chili Peppers funk with a splash of Jeff Buckley vocal style
- Astari Nite - indie flavored gothic inspired rock music
- Andrew Sansac - pop and funk rock music
- Hoosha - traditional styled rock and blues music
- Radioboxer - poppy electronic rock
- The Morning Flesh Project - instrumental progressive
I've always tried to work with bands that were audibly pleasing and this line up is just that, yet diverse enough that all sorts of different tastes and flavors will be satisfied.
It's because of what they do that REVMiami exists. I am always floored when I see ArtOfficial's Ralph and Keith play solos together, or witness Dyslexic Postcards' Joshua Xmas's endless pit of irreverence that transforms into aggressive rock and roll, or get jealous at the musicality of Hoosha, and there are an infinite amount of things that all these bands accomplish through their music every single time they play that is nothing short of inspirational. I thank them all for allowing me to experience it and share it with others.
Thank you.
Ric
