Band of Horses at The Fillmore
As I wrote last month, the Fillmore Miami Beach had a series of incredible concerts throughout March and April, starting with AIR and going through this past Wednesday with Band of Horses.
Even though I had literally wanted to live within the walls of the Fillmore, I didn't get a chance to get to any of the concerts except last Wednesday for Band of Horses. Well, ni importa, and to tell you the truth, I'm glad that it was Band of Horses that I was able to see.
As a bit of a personal background, I grew up going to punk rock and metal shows, so an Americana/Indie concert is like going to another planet and watching the Trafalmadorians enjoy their indigenous music styles.
Even though I'm only vaguely familiar with BOH's music, this was still one of the best times I've ever had. People were friendly, dancing, and in a general great frame of mind. Opening act Josh Roberts and the Hinges completely blew my mind with epic guitar solo'ing (when was the last time you heard a modern band have a 5 minute guitar solo) within the frame of country-themed American garage rock music. They're also coming back in June to Tobacco Road, so hopefully I can get some more information on that.
A good time was had by all (as can be see by the last pictures). I know a new album I'm going to buy.
