Borscht Wants Your Soul!
There are few events that I admire more than the Borscht Film Festival. Entering it's 7th year, the founders of the Fest have announced that they are beginning their search for this years entries.
For those who haven't attended Borscht Film Festival, you are really doing yourself a disservice. And trust me I understand the hesitation, I've been to other Film Festivals down here in my Miami, and walked away scratching my head asking myself if they were really covers for money laundering, or were were afraid to hurt a director's feelings by rejecting their film.
But Borscht does their job so, so well. The name even invokes uniqueness. Even though I didn't get to make it to last years festival, I think it's safe to say that Borscht is now considered one of the premiere annual Miami film events.
Borscht is looking for three types of entrants:
- CCCV Stories: For screenwriters and directors "with something to say about Miami." Up to 6 screenwriters and 6 directors will be selected and paired to create a short film. The deadline is August 1, 2010.
- Borscht's Auris (Borschtasaurus): Local musicians get paired up with internationally recognized directors to create a short film that is inspired by the ascetic of music (not necessarily a music video). The deadline is also August 1, 2010.
- Borscht Select Short Films: Up to 10 short films (2-15 minutes) will be selected to be shown. Deadline is February 1, 2011.
So send them in local filmmakers, we're looking forward to it.
