August 7 2010 Lake Worth ItYou’ve just rolled out of bed and did a small celebratory dance because it’s Friday; and then… the panic sets in. You realize that you have no plans this weekend and only a short amount of time to make something magical happen. You’re the first to admit, a wasted weekend (especially a Saturday) is a tragedy… and one that you will not succumb to.

Lucky for you, the city of Lake Worth has come together to give you such an action packed Saturday, you’ll need all of next week to recover. Shaman Stick Productions joined forces with Stitch Rock, the Pupil’s Collective and TheHoneyComb.com to cultivate an eclectic group of musicians, craft vendors and artists at The First Annual Lake Worth-It Festival on 8/7 at Bryant Park.

The event has been created to solidify Lake Worth as a powerhouse in the South Florida music and art scene. On the event’s website, organizers claim that “some nights you almost feel like you’re at SXSW in Austin, TX."  Those are some pretty strong words, and I can’t wait to see if they're true.

In an effort to showcase as much local music as possible, there are a total of 20 bands scheduled to play. A complete list of bands and scheduled time slots can be found here at the event’s website.

Joining Saturday's music, will also be a crafty utopia created by Stitch Rock. With events scattered all over South Florida throughout the year, Stitch Rock has promoted a variety of art and craft goodness for us to enjoy. I’m sure Saturday’s event will not disappoint in showcasing the area’s best in the craft scene. Make sure you stop by and support the local artists helping to make a handmade nation.

And when 10pm rolls around if you’re still wired and ready for more, there are a slew of after parties schedule all across the area. The day’s wrist band will get you in the after parties for free, otherwise it’s a $10 cover charge. A list of after parties and locations can be found at the Lake Worth-It facebook page. If I haven’t crashed by then, I’ll have to make my way over to the Havana Hideout for some killer tacos (or so I’ve been told by Guy Fietti) and tunes from my personal fav Mike Mineo.

Well, there you have it! You can calm down and fully embrace the joy of a Friday morning now that your Saturday is booked solid. Tomorrow wake up early, pack your sun block, your point & shoot camera and your dance moves because Lake Worth-It should be a festival to remember.
